The PADI Drift Diver Specialty course introduces you to the coolest magic carpet ride you’ll ever experience. It is the lazy form of diving and perfect way to practice your buoyancy. Drift diving is a type of scuba diving where we dive with the current, rather than against it. Your whole dive is more like flying than diving, as you whizz over reef, and is very relaxing as you barely have to fin.
*COVID-19 UPDATE August 2020*
Due to the uncertain nature of when restrictions will lift for Victoria, we have temporarily suspended all in-water activities.
Online learning for Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, Enriched Air, Equipment Specialist, Freediver and DM is still available.
This course shows you how to enjoy river and ocean currents by going with the flow, staying with your dive buddy, communicating with the dive boat and knowing where you are the whole time.
Victoria’s Port Phillip Bay is a perfect training ground for drift diving with millions of litres of water transiting the heads each day. Typically having 2 slack water times per day where we can explore the magnificent wall dives, the rest of the day has to be spent drifting over the walls and sponge gardens, over the scallop beds or on other parts inside the bay.
Drift diving is a great way to cover a vast area with little effort. The whole experience is almost effortless and very relaxing, you simply glide along and enjoy the rush of flying underwater while the current does the work.
