Are you ready to earn the world’s most recognised entry-level Scuba Diving certification, and begin your adventures exploring the underwater world? Over two weekends you can learn all the skills you need to become a safe and competent Scuba Diver, and be certified to dive to 18m anywhere in the world.
At Academy of Scuba, we believe in creating confident and independent divers, who will be comfortable diving in all conditions, and this is why our Open Water Diver course includes 2 boat dives, as well as shore dives. Our course sizes are small, with a ratio of 4 students to 1 professional, helping you to get as personal an experience as possible when you learn to dive, and ensuring you get all the help you need to build your confidence as a newly qualified diver. Private Tuition also availible. After your course we also organise reunion dives, and have special offers for our students to help you continue with your diving, and build that confidence even further.
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
If you've participated in a Discover Scuba Diving experience or resort course, the skills you learned may be credited towards a portion of the full PADI Open Water Diver course certification.
To enroll in the PADI Open Diver course or Junior Open Water Diver course, you must be:
The fun part about this course is...well, just about all of it because learning to dive is incredible. You breathe underwater for the first time (something you'll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. During the course, you'll make at least five pool dives and four dives at local dive sites under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear including a dive computer, and standard accessories. The equipment you wear will be chosen by a ACADEMY OF SCUBA Representative to ensure your comfort throughout the course.
PADI offers a variety of home-study materials for the Open Water Diver course - book and DVD package or a multimedia DVD. Recently PADI has enhanced this program by offering the learning material in an Elearning environment via the internet.
Contact ACADEMY OF SCUBA to personalise the best study option for you!
PADI's Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology and safety procedures. For each concept you'll read a description and watch a video demonstration. Then you'll jump in the pool (or pool-like environment) to practice these skills with your instructor.
Although we have many divers that you can buddy up with to continue your diving, learning to dive with your friends or family is always special. Book 2 people into this course and recieve a $30 voucher each to go towards your snorkelling equipment. Book 3 or more and recieve a $50 voucher each. Private courses can be arranged for individuals and groups.
To get the most out of your initial training, become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver is essential. Book into your Advanced course with us in conjuntion with your Open Water Diver Course and recieve a free Surface marker Bouy and Reel worth $180. These pieces of equipment are essentials for all all divers and mandatory for the Advanced course.
