In the PADI Deep Diver course you will learn the correct use of specialised equipment, which will increase your safety margins and ensure that you are confident diving to depth. About The Course
Course Content
Home Study.
Theory – 1 evening of theory review.
Open Water Dives – 4 boat dives to deep dive sites outside Port Phillip Bay.
- Techniques for diving in the deeper range of 18-40 metres/ 60-130 feet.
- Deep scuba diving equipment considerations.
- Experience in planning, organising and making at least four deep dives under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.
- Best ways to safely enter and exit the water.
- Stowing your gear in the most appropriate areas.
- Using surface lines to initiate or conclude your dives.
- Locating basic boat safety equipment.
Important Notes
- You must…
- Be 15 years old and Advanced Open Water certified.
- Diving Medical – subject to medical questionnaire. Liability Release, Safe Diving practices Statement of Understanding will need to be verified.
- A full dive medical must be obtained prior to starting this training if there are any ‘yes’ answers on the medical questionnaire. For a list of diving doctors please go to www.spums.org.au
Where You Dive
- Dive sites will be selected based on depth and optimum conditions, with the weather taken into account. All dives will be boat dives and you will need to have logged minimum one shore dive in Victoria in the last 6 months before going on the boats.
- The deeper dive sites are usually parts of the Lonsdale Wall or Wreck sites, such as the HMAS Canberra or the J1 Submarine. You will also be able to dive these wrecks in the Wreck Diver course
